Pool Liner Replacement in Nashville, TN
A vinyl liner is the one part of an inground pool that is meant to be replaced. It is the wearing surface, it takes the sun, the chemicals and the traffic, and when it reaches the end of its life the pool underneath is usually sound. Sunshine Pools & Patios replaces pool liners for Nashville and Davidson County homeowners, including on pools we did not build.
We have been working on inground pools across Middle Tennessee for more than 40 years, which means we have seen most of the wall systems installed around Nashville over the past four decades. That matters on a replacement, because the liner has to fit the pool you actually have.
When a Liner Needs Replacing
Most pools tell you before they fail outright. The signs we are usually called about:
A small puncture in otherwise healthy vinyl can often be patched. A liner that has gone brittle or has started slipping the track is telling you its working life is over, and patching it is money spent twice.
How a Liner Replacement Works
A replacement is a measured, made-to-order job rather than an off-the-shelf swap.
The part homeowners tend not to expect is step one. Once the old liner is out, the floor and walls are visible for the first time in years, so it is the right moment to deal with anything underneath rather than cover it back up.
What We Check While the Pool Is Open
With the liner out and the water gone, we look at the pool floor, the wall panels, the steps, the skimmer and return fittings, the coping and the track. Rust at the base of a steel wall, a soft spot in the floor or a failing fitting is far cheaper to address during a liner replacement than afterwards.
It is also the natural time to deal with the rest of the pool area. Many of our liner customers have us look at the surrounding deck at the same time, and pool deck resurfacing or new patios and hardscaping is straightforward to coordinate while the pool is already down. If the pool needs more than a liner, our pool renovation page covers equipment, tile, coping and water features.
When Replacement Is Not the Right Answer
Sometimes the liner is the least of it. If the wall system has failed, the pool is in the wrong place for how the family uses the yard, or the shape and depth no longer suit anyone in the house, replacing the liner only buys time.
In those cases we will tell you plainly, and we will talk through what a new liner pool or a gunite pool in the same yard would involve. Our gallery shows both, and we build across Davidson County and the surrounding area, including Mount Juliet and Goodlettsville.
Frequently Asked Questions About Pool Liner Replacement
Do you replace liners on pools you did not install?
Yes. Most of our liner replacement work is on pools built by other companies, across Nashville and Davidson County.
How long does a pool liner last?
It varies with sun exposure, water chemistry and use. Rather than quote a figure, we would rather look at your liner and tell you honestly whether it has life left in it.
Can a liner just be patched instead?
Sometimes. A clean puncture in vinyl that is still flexible is a good candidate. Brittle vinyl, bleached patches or a liner slipping the track usually is not.
Can I change the pattern when I replace the liner?
Yes, and most people do. A new liner is the single biggest visual change you can make to an older pool, and the pattern and border are chosen fresh each time.
What else should I consider doing at the same time?
Anything that is easier to reach with the water out: step repairs, fittings, coping, tile and the surrounding deck. Doing it in one visit costs less than coming back for it.
